Spring Break Fun

Spring Break Fun

Looking for things for the kids to do during the holidays? Look no further than your local library! We have lots of activities for all school ages, March 8-15. Children in grades 1-3 are invited to a ‘telling’ presented by the Durham Folklore Storytellers. Parents and other siblings are welcome to come along as well, for this unique and pleasing adventure which will allow the audience to set aside technology, and utilize their natural senses of sight and sound! Students in grades 6 and up are welcome to take the Red Cross Babysitting Course, designed to increase confidence while babysitting, or just when staying home alone. Emphasis on basic first aid and C.P.R. Bring along a nut-free lunch and life-size doll or teddy bear. Snacks provided. There is good old fashioned fun in store for the Junior and Senior Kindergarten crowd with stories, crafts and a fun movie, screened with a reel-to-reel projector. Mom and/or dad are invited to browse in the library, while the kids are having their own fun! The Brook Never Sleeps has been set up in partnership with the Uxbridge Youth Centre (U.Y.C.). Children in grades 4-10 are invited to this‘hands-on’ eco-workshop. Bring along warm clothes and boots. Thanks to the Uxbridge Watershed Committtee for providing lunch. SIGN UP at U.Y.C., 852-3456. What do PeopleSavers’s learn? Re-inforcement of injury prevention, how and who to call in an emergency, how to evaluate a safe environment, care and comfort in basic everyday mishaps. This NEW program is designed for three different groups, with information appropriate to different ages. How about a great adventure for teens who enjoy photography? Race around town and ‘shoot’ the items on your list! Teams of 2-4 must have at least one digital camera (phone camera ok). To finish off the week of vacation, when kids in grades 5-7 are really bored, they can drop by for the movie Rise of the Guardians. To protect the hopes and beliefs of children world wide, the immortal Guardians must join forces! Bottled water and popcorn available to complete this viewing pleasure. Zephyr Library will offer two programs as well. All school ages are invited to participate in Duct Tape Art on Tuesday, March 12 and Board Games on Thursday, March 14. Sign up soon as space is limited.
