Saying See You Soon

Saying See You Soon

Community – particularly this one – means everything to me. I’ve grown up here, worked in many local businesses, written hundreds of local stories and now have another layer of roots in town after moving my family back to town.

If you’d told me 5 years ago I’d be selling my third business and writing a goodbye editorial in my own community magazine, I’d likely spit tea in laughter. But after 3.5 years at the helm of Sweet World Media, the time has come to move on.

My youngest daughter, Alice, was just 10 months old when Uxbridge Town Talk was created. Lucy, my eldest, went into full-time daycare. Now at 4 and 7 respectively, I need to make up the years of (very fulfilling) long hours and late nights it’s taken to bring Sweet World Media where it is today.

This has not been an easy decision, yet I know in my heart it’s the right one. But damn I’m going to miss all of you, readers and clients alike. Thankfully I will remain involved in the business for the short term – and who knows what the future holds.

You will love new owner Elaine Leigh – she is just as passionate about shopping local, supporting small business with a genuine heart and believing in all that is great in Uxbridge Township.

Read Elaine’s welcome below, and please do not hesitate to call or email either of us if you have any questions or concerns.

All the best,
~Carly Foster

Get to Know Elaine

Let me introduce myself. My name is Elaine Leigh. After many weeks of pleasant negotiations I am the new owner of Sweet World Media, publisher of Uxbridge Town Talk.

I am new to Uxbridge, moving here from Aurora just last July. I bring with me many years experience with customer service, design work and a passion for photography. It did not take me long to fall in love with Uxbridge. This community has managed to maintain the feel of a small town, yet offer all the conveniences I could ever need. I was pleasantly surprised — no, shocked! — to find that customer service still exists. It has been years since anyone in a store asked if I needed help, and with a smile, unbelievable!

This sent me on a journey to set down roots. We’ve found our dentist, mechanic and favorite stores. We go to local theater, the movies and have quickly made Uxbridge our home. Now it is time to make my career where I live. Happily, I am here to stay.

My promise to existing customers, new customers and the Township of Uxbridge is to continue with the excellent customer service, web and graphic design work you are accustomed to when dealing with Sweet World Media. I will continue to promote local business and strongly encourage shopping, working and living in this amazing community.

I’d love to meet you! Drop me an email or phone call, and I’m happy to offer a 10% discount this month on our services as a welcome.
