How to Make Paper Snowflakes

How to Make Paper Snowflakes

You all remember doing it as a kid. Folding up a piece up paper, cutting it and to your surprise in the end, you end up with a beautiful symmetrical piece of art. Though, some kids have a hard time grasping the idea of it, so I’ve got some step by step instructions on what to do to make your own snowflakes!

Step 1: Fold the Paper. Start with a square piece of paper. Fold one side over the other to make a triangle.

Step 2: Make another Triangle. Once again, fold the paper into a triangle. Just take one of the polar corners and fold one over top of the other so that you have a perfect triangle.

Step 3: Fold again! Yes you have to make another triangle. Pull one the polar sides over the other again so that you have a right triangle.

Step 4: Make a “Rocket”. Fold most of the triangle over it’s self until it looks like a rocket or Christmas tree. You’ll need to make some adjustments during this step, so don’t make any major creases until you know your ready.

Step 5: Cut! Make a straight cut across the bottom of the paper right above the two points. After this you will have a tall, skinny triangle.

Step 6: Get Creative! This is the fun part. Cut a collection of lines, grooves and shapes into your snow flake. Try to use an even mix, but experiment with it. See which shapes you like to cut and find out what you like.

Step 7: Unfold: Time to see the fruits of your labour. Unfold your snow flake to take a look at it’s unique design. Put them up in your window or if you’ve still got some Christmas spirit, make a wreath of them on your wall.
